A month from tomorrow is Christmas Eve.
The Mount Forest Santa Claus parade is just around the corner, the weekend after next, and the Holstein parade the weekend after that. Craft shows and bazaars and Christmas teas have been the order of the day the past few weekends – check the advertisement in this week’s Confederate for all the Christmas events this weekend. Church choirs are practicing their cantatas; a drive around town or the countryside reveal homes lit up and decorated for the season. If you need a real hit of Christmas drop by either the Mount Forest Greenhouses or Country Creations, both of which advertised their annual Christmas open houses in last week’s Confederate. Both are literally Christmas wonderlands. Yep, Christmas is almost here.
Have you started your Christmas shopping yet?
Try Us First…
Mount Forest businesses are asking local residents to try them first when it comes to Christmas shopping this year. A special booklet has been produced – the Mount Forest Christmas Shopping Guide 2011 – and has been delivered to local mailboxes. Inside, along with advertisements from participating merchants, are holiday tips, cool gift ideas, recipes and a listing of special events. There is also a complimentary ballot that could win you, the shopper, $200, $300 or $500 in Chamber $$$. Drop it off at any of the participating businesses. Shoppers will also receive ballots while they’re out shopping in Mount Forest giving them more chances to win.
And see the ad in this week’s Confederate. Several local merchants are celebrating moonlight madness, or at least extended hours on Friday evening, Nov. 25. “No Tax Days” are planned for Dec. 2 and 3, as well as special days for ladies and men.
As the booklet says, “Try us First” is an opportunity for you the shopper to see all the great businesses in Mount Forest, along with their unique products and services. You will be amazed.
And, send us a note and tell us about your shopping experience in Mount Forest, the perfect gift that you found for someone special or local merchant who went out of his or her way for you. One local shopper will receive, in a random draw from the notes received, a free one-year subscription to The Confederate. Email editor@mountforest.com with the subject line local shopping or drop it into the office at 277 Main Street South.
