Mount Forest Legion Branch 14 is commended for all the hard work members put into the High, Healthy, Happy Haydays Hootenanny presented once again this Civic Holiday Weekend. What a treat it is to have such high-class entertainment presented locally on a weekend when taking your life into your hands and fighting the bumper-to-bumper traffic to go elsewhere is just not in the cards.
From the open jamboree with local entertainment under the big tent on the Legion parking lot on Friday evening through to the Stompin’ Tom Tribute by Jean St. Pierre, back by popular demand on Sunday afternoon, it was a thoroughly enjoyable weekend for music fans.  And, one mustn’t forget the stellar Legion Hall dinners served both days – the barbecued beef dinner on Saturday and the ham and scalloped potatoes feast on Sunday, both for a mere $10 a plate. The Legion ladies are known for their fine food and they once again outdid themselves.
The Haydays Hootenanny is on the heels of the Fireworks Festival and, the previous weekend, the Legion membership once again came up to the plate with the motorcycle show and shine and entertainment at the hall.
In many communities the Legion is faltering due to aging and declining memberships. That certainly isn’t the case in Mount Forest and we must never forget the contributions Branch 134 makes to the community. Well done.
