New Year’s babies abound

Glen Westlake and Jenny Aldridge of Mount Forest welcomed Brinley, the first baby born in 2012 at Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus. Brinley, who weighed in at five and a half pounds, was born at 5:35 p.m. on New Year’s Day, and is the sixth child (and sixth boy) for the couple. Continuing their annual tradition, Centre Wellington Welcome Wagon representatives presented the family with seven bins full of gifts from 64 local businesses - gift certificates, bath products, a nursery rhyme book, stuffed toys, and baby food, among other things.
It stands to reason that the first baby of the year born at Louise Marshall Hospital would have parents in the Mount Forest area.
But, as 2012 dawned, babies with Mount Forest connections were being welcomed to the world in hospitals in Fergus, Kitchener, Cambridge and even Barrie.
Mr. and Mrs. Gingrich of RR 2, Mount Forest welcomed the arrival of their son Claire at 6:25 a.m. on Sunday morning, Jan. 1 at the Mount Forest hospital.
Delivered by Dr. Hugh Perrin, little Claire weighed six pounds, one ounce.
