If you are planning any races at all at this point, Saturday may be the most important day of the year for you.
The Saugeen Triathlon Club’s first Mega Training Day is set to roll at Spruce Ridge School in Durham, offering a full day of multisport training and information. It will be intense. It will not be easy. You will sweat. You may even feel like you want to quit, but no one will let you.
The event begins at 6 a.m. for registration, with training and set up, followed by a 7 a.m. introduction, and the first of the training events at 7:30 a.m.
After a session of Yoga For Endurance Athletes, you will be warmed up enough to tackle the spin session of your life. For the next two hours, NCCA Cross Country Runner and top Cyclist Joe Chappell will lead you through a challenging wind trainer session. Joe is an incredible athlete and cyclist.
Over the next few hours rotate through three different training sessions, from bike maintenance and repair, to rules and officiating with tons of tips and stories, plus a session on cycling, transitions and adult training.
For those still feeling the need to work up a sweat, an optional 5K or 10K run will precede the afternoon sessions. Follow the third and final rotation, the entire group will come back together for one last Hardcore Yoga For Endurance Athletes session.
After some closing remarks around 4 p.m., the suffering is over. You will need a wind trainer and your bike, loads of food, a couple of changes of clothing, outdoor running clothes if you plan to run, and the most mojo you can muster.
Invite anyone you want to come with you for the day. You get all of this for only $25. Get your training off to a great start, and plan to be at The Saugeen Triathlon Club’s Mega Training Day this Saturday.
