The Mount Forest Bantam Local League Rams boast one of the best scorecards of the season. As of the Christmas break, the squad was 15-1-0 and showing no signs of slowing down.
The team melded quickly at the start of the season, welcoming the BCH Icedogs to their home opener on Oct. 14, and edging them 4-3. Goals were credited to Connor Kerr, with a pair, Devon Morgan and Aidan Felsbourg. Brett Peter helmed the net, as he would for the first half dozen games, as fellow goalie Colton Thompson sustained a flukey and painful elbow injury during one of the first practices.
On Oct. 16, the Rams hosted Lucknow and throttled their visitors 7-3. Goals were scored by Kurtis Snyders, Mitchell Rice, Zachary Droog and Felsbourg, plus Kerr, who hit three times for a hat-trick. Excellent work by the Ram defence of Jarod Bowden, Kyle Dallaire, Snyders and Tristan Sylvestre kept the damage down to three.
Mount Forest next invited Goderich over for a match, and it was an extremely physical exchange with 16 and 18 penalties handed out respectively. The Rams kept their heads long enough to secure a 6-2 victory, thanks to another hat-trick from Kerr, two goals from Felsbourg and one more from Droog.

REEVES CHALLENGE CUP
Walkerton came over to try their luck in denting the Rams winning streak during the Reeves Challenge Cup on Oct. 27, but they too left in frustration with a 6-0 spanking. Peter held the crease for the shutout, and his fourth win of the season, while Joel Webers, Sylvestre, Droog, Morgan and Kerr all became well acquainted with the Walkerton cager.
The end of the month saw Mount Forest host Wingham. It was a tighter match, with the hosts counting two goals from Felsbourg and Kerr and the guests counting a goose egg.
The team’s first loss of the season came on Nov. 5, as the Rams traveled to Goderich for what would turn out to be a frustrating rematch. The hosts logged penalties pretty much from the puck drop, but the Rams persisted en route to a 6-2 defeat. Felsbourg and Zachary Hess were credited with points.
The following day, Mount Forest hosted BCH and rebounded with a similar 6-2 score. Droog started the scorefest, followed by Snyders, Felsbourg, Morgan and Joel Webers.
On Nov. 8, the Rams headed West to Brussels/Blyth, and the result was a lopsided contest. Felsbourg was good for two points, as was Kerr, Sylvestre and Webers. Droog and Morgan rounded out the 10-0 victory.
Nov. 12 saw the squad head to meet the B.C.H. Icedogs in Hensall. The ‘Dogs drew first blood, but the Rams replied quickly in the first period, and continued on to win 6-3. Kerr, Webers, Droog, and Snyders each found the net once, and Felsbourg counted twice.
After a short break, the team was back on the ice on Nov. 20 and hosting Mildmay Monarchs. The Rams weren't intimidated by their royal guests, doubling the score 6-3. Kerr led the effort, followed by Felsbourg, Snyders, Webers and Droog.
It was a tighter contest when the Rams arrived in Lucknow on Nov. 24. The locals were on the scoreboard first, thanks to Morgan, followed by Daniel Conrad, Webers, and a pair from Kerr. The next day the team participated in a local league tournament in Durham.
Although they weren't successful, they were back to their winning ways on Nov. 27, when they hosted Blyth/Brussels. The Bulldogs were sent to the doghouse 5-1, with profitable efforts from Tyler Troup, Kerr, Sylvestre, Hess and Droog.
On Dec. 4, the Rams hosted the TCDMHA Rebels. Rice was on fire, scoring two goals in the first period, followed by Kerr in the second and again in the third. The guests found the crease twice, for a 4-2 final.
It was a tight contest on Dec. 11, as the Rams hosted Seaforth Stars. The Mount Forest defence locked out the Stars in the contest, and Morgan managed to capitalize on an opportunity at the Seaforth end that gave the Rams a tidy 1-0 win.
Teeswater came to town on Dec. 12, for the final game of 2011, and needed the first period to reply to a goal after a Kerr breakaway minutes into the match. McCloud Fletcher, returned from a serious injury, bulged the twine for the second point, and Sylvestre earned the winning 3-2 goal.
The new year came in much like the old one went out; with a win for Mount Forest. In Wingham, the team put forth a solid effort as Droog counted the first goal. Felsbourg scored the second and third, and Conrad added one as the defence shut down the silent Ironmen 4-0.
On Jan. 8, the team enjoyed a spirited exhibition game against the Hanover Falcons. Kerr and Felsbourg started the scoring in the first period, and Felsbourg chipped in another in the second. Kerr and Snyders scored in the third. Hanover was frustrated until the third period, when they found two goals, but Mount Forest was able to frustrate their guests for a 5-2 final.
